On October 1, 2017, Christopher Roybal, a 28-year-old veteran who had served in Afghanistan, was among the victims of the mass shooting that occurred at the Route 91 Harvest music festival in Las Vegas, Nevada. Roybal was attending the concert when the shooting began.
