On the evening of Thursday, October 26, 2017, a dispute in a convenience store parking lot in Las Vegas escalated into a fatal shooting, claiming the life of Eugene Thomas Bell. The Black male victim, who was 32 years old, was shot and killed near the intersection of East Charleston Boulevard and U.S. 95.
Earlier in the evening, Bell had been involved in a physical altercation with another man in the parking lot. Following the fight, the other individual left the area.
He returned a short time later as a passenger in a light-colored sedan. Multiple gunshots were fired from the vehicle, striking Bell. The car was last seen heading west on Charleston Boulevard.
Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 9:30 p.m., where they found Bell suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department launched a homicide investigation into Bell's death. They described the suspect as a Black male in his 20s, with a thin build and standing approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly wearing a red jacket. Despite the ongoing investigation and appeals to the public for information, there have been no subsequent announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in the years following the shooting. The case, from all available public information, appears to remain unsolved.
