In the early morning hours of December 18, 2017, the life of Michael Wayne Bartoli, a 40-year-old Caucasian male, was tragically cut short in Las Vegas, Nevada. His body was discovered at an apartment complex located on the 3500 block of Villas Knolls North Drive, near the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Pecos Road. Bartoli had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was found unresponsive on the ground.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched to the scene at
approximately 12:48 a.m. after receiving a report of a man down. Although residents in the complex later reported hearing gunshots between midnight and 12:30 a.m., no one had contacted the authorities at that time. Medical personnel arrived and transported Bartoli to Sunrise Trauma, where he was pronounced deceased. Investigators found a backpack and a bicycle at the scene, though it was not immediately clear if Bartoli was a resident of the apartment complex.

At the time, Bartoli's death marked the 212th homicide investigated by the department that year and the 243rd within Clark County.
