On August 23, 2020, a tragic incident occurred at the Riviera Mobile Home Park in Las Vegas, Nevada, resulting in the death of 59-year-old Sean Joseph Carroll. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 5:53 p.m. in the 2000 block of Palm Street, near East St. Louis Avenue and Fremont Street.
Upon arrival, officers found Carroll unresponsive in his bedroom, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate response of medical personnel, Carroll was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Clark County Coroner's office later confirmed that Carroll's cause of death was due to gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.

As a result of the investigation, Beverly Kiewert was taken into custody and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. She was charged with one count of open murder, as well as additional charges of murder with a deadly weapon and burglary while in possession of a firearm. Kiewert was held without bail at the detention center, with a hearing scheduled for the following Wednesday.
