Summary based on 11 sources
In the early hours of October 5, 2020, a house party in a residential area of western Las Vegas turned deadly. Kevin Nike Martinez, a 20-year-old male from Henderson, was attending the gathering on Captains Hill Road. The party had been going on for several nights. Shortly after midnight, Martinez was confronted by another man outside the residence. The encounter escalated, and Martinez was shot multiple times. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The investigation into the shooting led police to identify two suspects. The first, Myles Coleman, who was 19 at the time, was arrested in March 2021. He was linked to the crime through a UNLV parking ticket found at the scene. Investigators believe Coleman and three others had arrived at the party and, upon seeing Martinez and his friends, decided to rob them. This attempted robbery is what police believe led to the fatal shooting. Coleman was a freshman at UNLV but had not returned to classes or his dorm room since the incident.

A second suspect, Charro Kennebruew, then 21, was arrested in Southern California in June 2022 and awaited extradition to Las Vegas. Both Coleman and Kennebruew faced charges of murder with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, and attempted robbery with a deadly weapon. Following his arrest, Coleman was held at the Clark County Detention Center, and an arrest warrant had been issued for Kennebruew prior to his capture.
