In the quiet suburban landscape of Henderson, Nevada, a tragedy unfolded on February 16, 2021, forever altering the lives of a young family. Whitney Nicole Chareun, a 25-year-old female, was found deceased in her residence on Sunridge Heights Parkway. The grim discovery was made by police officers who were responding to a request for a welfare check at the home.
Upon entering the residence, authorities were met with a heartbreaking scene.
Whitney Chareun had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Alongside her was the body of 29-year-old Nhan Ngoc Truong, who also died from a gunshot wound. The Clark County Coroner's office later officially ruled Chareun's death a homicide and Truong's death a suicide.
Investigators concluded that Truong shot and killed Chareun before taking his own life. The nature of the relationship between Chareun and Truong was not immediately made clear by officials. In a stroke of fortune amidst the tragedy, two young children, ages two and fourteen months, were discovered in the home, physically unharmed. Two dogs were also found safe at the scene. As the investigation determined the case to be a murder-suicide, no arrests were made in connection with Whitney Chareun's death, with Nhan Ngoc Truong being the sole suspect.
