On New Year's Eve of 2021, a night of celebration in Las Vegas turned tragic for Hyo Sup Um, a 60-year-old Asian man. In the parking garage of the Palace Station casino, what began as a suspected robbery attempt escalated into a fatal encounter. Um was shot in the back and was later pronounced dead at University Medical Center. His death was officially ruled a homicide by the Clark County coroner's office.
