In the spring of 2022, a dispute over missing work tools escalated into a fatal encounter, claiming the life of 43-year-old Ignacio Soto III. A resident of Las Vegas for over two decades, Soto, a husband and father of two sons, worked in construction and was a member of the Laborer's Union Local 872.
On the evening of April 29, 2022, an argument took place between Soto and a 22-year-old man named Damien Frazier regarding tools that had disappeared from Soto's vehicle.
Later that night, the two crossed paths again at an apartment complex on Marion Drive. The confrontation turned violent when Frazier allegedly shot Soto in the head. First responders arrived at the scene near East Lake Mead Boulevard to find Ignacio gravely wounded. He was immediately transported to the University Medical Center's trauma center.
Despite medical efforts, Ignacio Soto III succumbed to his injuries on May 2, 2022. The Clark County coroner's office officially ruled his death a homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the head.
Witnesses at the scene provided crucial information to investigators, which led to the identification of Damien Frazier as the primary suspect. Authorities later recovered a firearm linked to Frazier. Ballistic testing confirmed that a cartridge casing found at the scene of the shooting matched the recovered weapon. Following the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Damien Frazier, and he was subsequently taken into custody and charged with murder. He was booked and held without bail pending his court appearance.
