On a summer day in Las Vegas, the life of 18-year-old Hispanic male Isaiah Galindo was tragically cut short. The events of June 20, 2022, unfolded at a residence on the 7500 block of Glowing Ember Court, where Isaiah and his younger brother had been invited by an acquaintance, 24-year-old Edward Gonzalez, to smoke marijuana. What began as a get-together would soon spiral into a scene of deadly violence, leaving two teenage brothers dead.
According to the account Gonzalez later gave to
police, the situation escalated when he noticed a gun in Isaiah's pocket. Believing he was about to be robbed, Gonzalez claimed he seized the weapon and shot Isaiah multiple times. Isaiah attempted to flee the home, but Gonzalez followed him into the front yard, shooting him again as he lay on the ground. The violence did not end there. Inside the house, Isaiah's 16-year-old brother, Jesse, entered a bedroom where another male witness was. After hearing the initial gunfire, the witness shot at Jesse until he fell. Gonzalez then entered the room and also fired additional shots at the younger brother.
When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to numerous 911 calls about the shooting, they discovered a grim scene. Isaiah's body was found in the front yard, while his brother Jesse was found deceased inside the home. Both had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Gonzalez was still at the scene when police arrived and, according to the arrest report, admitted to the killings. During the chaotic incident, Gonzalez also accidentally shot the witness in the shoulder.
Months later, in January 2023, the investigation culminated in the arrest of Edward Gonzalez. He was taken into custody without incident at his Las Vegas home. He was subsequently charged with two counts of open murder for the deaths of Isaiah and Jesse Galindo. In addition to the murder charges, Gonzalez also faced charges for illegally owning a gun and child abuse/neglect.
