On a tragic evening in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the life of 29-year-old Virgil Delano Gambles, a Black male, was cut short by gunfire. The events leading to his death began on April 17, 1974, at the Brown Jug Liquor Store on East Cucharras Street. An altercation had broken out earlier in the evening, involving Mr. Gambles's brother and another man.
