On a late September day in 1976, the quiet neighborhood near East 33rd Avenue and Cherry Street in Denver, Colorado, became the scene of a grim discovery. On September 28th, officers with the Denver Police Department were dispatched to the area following a report of a deceased male found inside a vehicle. Upon their arrival, they identified the man as 42-year-old Benjamin Chavez, a Hispanic male. He had been fatally shot.
