In the summer of 1977, a young man's life was cut short in Denver, Colorado, leaving behind a case that would remain unsolved for decades. John Pierce Jr., a 24-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on the evening of August 2nd.
The incident unfolded at 1700 E. 30th Ave., where Pierce was reportedly involved in a drug transaction with an unknown individual. During this encounter, he sustained a gunshot wound.
Urgently transported to a local hospital, his life hung in the balance overnight. Despite medical efforts, John Pierce Jr. succumbed to his injuries the following day, on August 3, 1977.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain murky, and the person or persons responsible for his death have never been identified. The Denver Police Department's Cold Case Unit continues to seek information that could lead to an arrest and bring closure to the long-standing mystery of who killed John Pierce Jr. No arrests have ever been made in the case, and there are no publicly identified suspects.
