In the spring of 1993, a quiet street in Denver was shattered by an act of sudden violence that claimed the life of a 63-year-old Black woman, Louise Brown. On the evening of May 30th, inside her residence in the 2800 block of Birch Street, the day turned tragic. Without warning, a vehicle carrying unknown individuals drove past her home and unleashed a barrage of gunfire into the house.
One of the bullets found its mark, mortally wounding Brown. When Denver Police Department officers responded to reports of the shooting, they discovered her inside the home, having succumbed to a gunshot wound. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the shooting, disappearing into the city and leaving behind a senseless crime.
The investigation into the death of Louise Brown determined that she was the victim of a drive-by shooting. However, the perpetrators were never identified, and no arrests have been made in the case.
