In the winter of 1998, a young life was abruptly cut short on the streets of Aurora, Colorado. On the evening of February 25th, 21-year-old Kendrick J. Jones, a Black male, was riding his bicycle near the intersection of 13th Avenue and Del Mar Parkway. As he made his way through the neighborhood, a vehicle approached him, shattering the night's quiet with the sound of three gunshots. The shots found their mark, and Kendrick fell, his bicycle clattering to the ground beside him.
