In the early morning hours of March 29, 1998, the life of 16-year-old Pariss Davis was tragically cut short on a street corner in Denver. Davis, a Black male, was standing at the intersection of East 26th Avenue and Humboldt Street, located just behind Manual High School, when a dark-colored vehicle pulled up beside him. An interaction occurred between Davis and the occupant or occupants of the car, which ended with him being fatally shot.
Immediately after the shooting, the vehicle sped
away from the scene, disappearing into the night. Neighbors who heard the commotion reported seeing a dark compact car leaving the area. Davis was quickly transported to a local hospital, but his injuries were too severe, and he did not survive. At the time of his death, Pariss was just a few months shy of his seventeenth birthday, having been born on June 14, 1981.
In the years that have followed, the murder of Pariss Davis has remained unsolved, becoming a cold case. Despite the initial witness accounts of a dark vehicle fleeing the scene, law enforcement has not been able to identify any suspects, and no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide. The case remains open, with the Denver Police Department continuing to seek any information that might lead to a breakthrough and bring closure to the family of the young man whose life was taken so long ago.
