On a spring evening in Denver, Colorado, what began as a social gathering ended in tragedy for 18-year-old Ronnie Daniel Hernandez. On March 19, 2006, Hernandez was at a party in the 200 block of Stuart Street when a dispute broke out between his group and other attendees. When the gunfire ceased, Ronnie Hernandez and another man,
24-year-old Eulices Vargas, lay fatally wounded. Three other individuals at the party also sustained injuries during the exchange of fire. The male suspects involved in the deadly confrontation fled the scene immediately after the shooting, disappearing into the night.
