Paul David Davis, a 51-year-old male, was a quiet man with a passion for cars and a willingness to help friends and family. Born on July 13, 1965, in Rangely, Colorado, he spent most of his life in the Grand Valley area after his family moved to Grand Junction. He graduated from Central High School in 1983 and, after a short time in Florida, returned to the area in 1989.
Over the years, he worked various jobs and was known for his ability to fix or build anything, especially when it came to automobiles. His favorite pastimes included fishing, working on cars, and driving fast. In addition to his mechanical skills, he operated a peach orchard, bringing Palisade peaches to customers as far away as Nebraska from the Davis Family Farm.
On the night of October 16, 2016, Paul David Davis's life was tragically cut short in Palisade, Colorado. He was found with gunshot wounds to his stomach and chest in the 3600 block of G 7/10 Road. The incident, which occurred around midnight, was investigated by the Mesa County Sheriff's Office as a homicide. His sudden and violent death left his family and community in mourning. A memorial service was held the following Saturday at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Palisade.
The investigation into his death led to the identification of suspects. One individual was arrested in January 2017 and was considered a suspect from early in the investigation. This individual was eventually found guilty of first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting. The case saw further legal proceedings, including a new trial being granted for the convicted individual at one point, and the conviction of a third defendant in relation to a pot robbery that was connected to the death.
