In the autumn of 2017, the life of 28-year-old Danielle Calvert was tragically cut short in Pueblo, Colorado. Known to her loved ones as 'De,' she was a woman who was said to have loved life to the fullest. Her journey, however, came to a violent end inside a home located in the 1300 block of Van Buren Street. On October 3, 2017, authorities discovered her body, and it was soon determined that she had died from a single gunshot wound. The case was immediately treated as a suspicious homicide by the Pueblo Police Department.
The investigation into Danielle's death quickly focused on her ex-girlfriend, Ramona Benevidez. Authorities publicly identified Benevidez as a person of interest and sought help from the community in locating her. A warrant was issued for her arrest on a charge of first-degree murder. The search for Benevidez did not last long, as she turned herself into the Pueblo Police Department. Following her surrender, she was taken into custody and held at the Pueblo County Jail.
In a significant development in the case, Ramona Benevidez ultimately accepted a plea agreement.
