In the early morning hours of May 27, 2018, a dispute that began inside an Aurora, Colorado nightclub spilled out into the parking lot, ending in a burst of gunfire that claimed the life of 37-year-old Dejon Andre Leon Williams. The male victim suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head during the altercation outside the Kasbah nightclub, located near East 6th Avenue and North Helena Street.
The violence erupted shortly before 2:10 a.m., creating a chaotic scene where three other
individuals, two men and a woman, were also wounded by the gunfire. When Aurora police arrived, they discovered the four victims and immediately transported them to a local hospital. Despite medical efforts, Williams succumbed to his injuries.
In the days and weeks that followed, the Aurora Police Major Crimes Unit launched an investigation into the deadly shooting. Authorities believe a fight that originated within the nightclub escalated and moved outdoors, leading to the fatal confrontation. However, the owner of the Kasbah nightclub disputed this account, stating that a review of his security footage did not show a fight spilling out from the establishment. More than a month after the incident, Williams's wife publicly stated that her husband was attempting to break up a fight when he was shot.
Despite appeals to the public for information and the offer of a reward for any tips leading to an arrest, no suspects were immediately identified or taken into custody. The investigation into the death of Dejon Andre Leon Williams has not publicly yielded any arrests or named suspects in the years following the incident.
