On October 15, 2019, Rene Perez, a 56-year-old man from Lakewood, Colorado, was fatally shot in an apartment parking lot as he returned home from his job as a janitor. The incident occurred just after midnight in the 200 block of S. Teller Street. According to the authorities, Perez's death was the culmination of a crime spree involving multiple individuals.
