The day of violence was orchestrated by 27-year-old Kyree Davon Howard-Walker. His rampage began with a shooting and a carjacking, setting off a city-wide manhunt.

The extensive search for Howard-Walker concluded in a tense standoff with law enforcement at a residence on Florence Avenue. As police surrounded the home, they found Howard-Walker inside, deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. A woman who was also present at the location was taken into custody on unrelated outstanding warrants. The resolution of the standoff brought an end to the immediate threat, but not before two lives were tragically cut short.
