In the small town of Fraser, Colorado, the community was shaken by the tragic death of 32-year-old Kristin M. Reilly, a white female, on November 27, 2020. The devastating event unfolded inside a Fraser apartment on South Zerex Street, where she and her husband, 38-year-old Lucais W. Reilly, resided. The couple, who had recently married, were discovered by a concerned friend after one of them failed to show up for work and did not respond to numerous calls and texts.
Upon entering the
residence, the friend was met with a grim scene. Both Kristin and Lucais were found deceased, having suffered traumatic injuries. The Fraser Winter Park Police Department immediately launched an investigation into their deaths. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist with processing the scene. Initially, authorities treated the case as a possible murder-suicide, pending the results of an autopsy.
The investigation, aided by autopsy findings, eventually concluded that the deaths were indeed the result of a murder-suicide. Law enforcement officials believe that Lucais Reilly shot and killed his wife before taking his own life. Evidence indicated that the couple had been deceased for nearly a day before their bodies were discovered. As the perpetrator was also deceased, no arrests were made in the case, and no other suspects were considered.
Kristin was remembered as a music-lover with an infectious personality. She was an active member of the community, volunteering at the local nonprofit radio station, KFFR 88.3 FM. There, she hosted a Friday morning show called “Face Plant into Friday.” Her husband also volunteered at the station, hosting a show dedicated to the band Phish. The incident left the community grappling with the profound loss of a vibrant young woman and the shocking circumstances of her death.
