In the cold of a January evening in Denver, Colorado, a life was tragically cut short. On Saturday, January 15, 2022, Tony Lamar Bozman, a 38-year-old man, was found alongside the roadway at 29th Street and Arkins Court. The discovery was made by two RTD employees who promptly called 911. Police and paramedics arrived at the scene and transported Bozman to a nearby hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
An investigation into his death was launched by Denver police detectives. Nine days later, on January 24, 2022, the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner officially ruled Bozman's death a homicide, confirming that he had died from gunshot wounds. In the initial stages of the investigation, the Denver Police Department sought help from the public, asking anyone with information about the shooting or the person or persons responsible to come forward.
An extensive investigation conducted by law enforcement led to the arrest of a suspect, Cameron Spain. Following the arrest, the Denver District Attorney's Office charged Spain with one count of murder in the first degree. After a trial, a Denver jury deliberated for approximately two hours before returning a guilty verdict on May 4, 2023. Spain, who was 33 years old at the time of the conviction, was scheduled to be sentenced on May 18, 2023.
