In the late evening of July 6, 2022, the life of 19-year-old Santiago Calleros III was tragically cut short in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The young Hispanic man, a father to a young daughter, was found with at least one gunshot wound at the El Morro Mobile Home Park. Despite the efforts of officers and medical personnel who provided aid at the scene, he succumbed to his injuries.
The El Paso County Coroner's Office later completed an autopsy and his death is being investigated as a homicide by the Colorado Springs Police Department.
Known to the Hispanic community as the rap artist 'Lil Travieso,' Calleros was just beginning to make a name for himself in the music industry. His family remembers him as a loving and caring father, son, and brother who was passionate about music, sports, and lowriders. He was born on August 6, 2002, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The most cherished person in his life was his baby girl, Araselli. His sudden and violent death left his family heartbroken and searching for answers.
The investigation into his murder has been ongoing, but as of early 2024, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The lack of progress has been a source of immense pain and frustration for his family, particularly his father, Santiago Calleros Jr., who has publicly expressed his desperation for justice. The Colorado Springs Police Department has stated that the case remains a priority and that they continue to seek information from the public. Pikes Peak Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest in connection with this unsolved homicide.
