In the crisp early afternoon of September 17, 2022, the quiet of an Aurora, Colorado neighborhood was shattered by the sound of gunfire. When police arrived at the 900 block of South Ironton Street around 12:43 p.m., they discovered a man inside a vehicle, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. The man was identified as 39-year-old Paul Colin Stone, a male resident of Aurora.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The Aurora Police Department immediately launched an intensive investigation into the shooting. Detectives worked tirelessly, interviewing witnesses and analyzing evidence to piece together the events that led to Stone's untimely death. Their efforts paid off, and just over a week later, on September 27, 2022, the department announced the arrests of two individuals in connection with the homicide.
The suspects were identified as 25-year-old Aram Cooper and 42-year-old Crystal Purcell. Both were taken into custody and subsequently charged with first-degree murder for their alleged involvement in the death of Paul Stone.
