On June 17, 2017, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, 30-year-old Timothy Aaron Baca was fatally shot by Chris Owens, then aged 30. Prior to the incident, Baca had befriended Owens, who had a criminal history. Following the shooting, Owens was charged with murder, being a felon in possession of a weapon, and tampering with evidence.
