Tess Angelica Jauregui, a 33-year-old resident of Roswell, New Mexico, tragically lost her life on February 7, 2018, due to a drive-by shooting incident. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. at the Sunrise Mobile Home Park, located in the 1200 block of West Hobbs Street in southwest Roswell. During the shooting, multiple gunshots were fired, and at least one of the shots penetrated the interior of Jauregui's mobile home, striking her.
Despite the presence of other individuals, including her four children and a friend, inside the home, Jauregui was the only fatality. Nearby, another mobile home was also hit by the gunfire, but no one in that residence was injured.
The Roswell Police Department launched an immediate and thorough investigation into the homicide, seeking any information the public might have regarding the incident. The police were initially working to identify potential suspects, and the case remained an ongoing investigation for some time.
However, significant developments emerged later in the investigation. Raymond Lucero Jr. was identified and arrested in connection with Jauregui's murder. According to investigators, Lucero Jr. allegedly acted in retaliation after Jauregui had reported an incident involving him to the police just days before the shooting. This retaliation led to the fatal drive-by shooting that claimed Jauregui's life. Lucero Jr. was subsequently charged with first-degree murder in relation to Jauregui's death.
