On the evening of July 26, 2019, a tragic event unfolded in Roswell, New Mexico, that ended the life of Jennifer Morrow, a 40-year-old White / Caucasian woman. Morrow was a passenger in a pickup truck being driven by 20-year-old Alessandro Alva. An argument broke out between the two, which prompted Morrow to exit the vehicle.
Shortly after she got out of the truck, while she was sitting or kneeling on a sidewalk, a gunshot was fired from the pickup.
The shot struck Morrow, and she was later pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital. The Roswell Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation into the shooting.
Investigators were able to identify Alva as the primary suspect through the use of witness testimonies and video surveillance footage from the area. Alva was arrested just two days later, on July 28, 2019, on suspicion of first-degree murder. He was subsequently held without bond in Chaves County. During questioning, Alva admitted to giving Morrow a ride that evening but denied being the one who shot her. Law enforcement noted that there was no prior acquaintance between Alva and Morrow, leading them to believe the incident was not premeditated.
