On September 19, 2018, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, 30-year-old Thomas Elder was fatally shot during a home invasion near I-25 and Avenida Cesar Chavez. Elder and an accomplice had unlawfully entered the residence, where they were confronted by the homeowner. A struggle ensued between Elder and the homeowner over a firearm, culminating in Elder being shot and killed.

The Albuquerque Police Department investigated the incident and determined that the homeowner acted in self-defense. Conseq ...
