Authorities identified Fernando De Leon, also 63 years old, as the individual responsible for the death of Reuben Baca and his dog. Following the shooting, De Leon took his own life.
Because the perpetrator of the homicide was also deceased, no arrests were made in connection with the case. The incident was determined to be a murder-suicide.
