On a tragic day in Los Lunas, New Mexico, 38-year-old Hispanic/Latino male Henry Romero Jr. was killed by gunfire on February 19, 2021. The violent event also resulted in the death of his 32-year-old brother, Rudy Romero. The brothers were at a home on Meadow Lake Road when the fatal shooting occurred.
The Valencia County Sheriff's Office began an investigation into the double homicide.
Detectives were informed that the incident originated from a dispute concerning stolen property that escalated to shots being fired. The investigation quickly led to the identification of several individuals believed to be involved in the deaths of the Romero brothers.
Within six days of the shooting, law enforcement arrested four suspects in connection with the killings. On the day of the incident, deputies apprehended 37-year-old Felicia Anaya after a brief chase on foot. Subsequently, 29-year-old David Maestes and 26-year-old Samuel Maestes turned themselves in to authorities. A short time later, deputies located and arrested the fourth suspect, 25-year-old Jacob Arnold, at his residence. All four individuals were booked into the Valencia County Detention Center.
