On April 9, 2021, at approximately 3:45 a.m., Albuquerque police responded to a welfare check at the Ramada/Amberly Suites, located at 25 Hotel Circle NE. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of 35-year-old Edward Purvis III, who had been fatally shot in his motel room. The investigation revealed that Purvis had been involved in illegal drug activities, and his death was suspected to be drug-related.
