In the late hours of May 8, 2022, a violent encounter in an Albuquerque, New Mexico convenience store parking lot tragically cut short the life of 25-year-old Raymond Sedillo. Reports from that evening describe a chaotic scene where multiple individuals were involved in a confrontation that ended in gunfire. Sedillo, who was inside his vehicle at the time, was struck by multiple bullets.
First responders rushed him to a local hospital in critical condition, where he fought for his life for two weeks.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, Raymond Sedillo succumbed to his injuries on May 21, 2022. His death launched a homicide investigation by the Albuquerque Police Department, which worked to piece together the events of that fatal night at the In & Out smoke shop on Central Avenue. Investigators determined that Sedillo had been the target of several shooters. His white Nissan sedan, riddled with bullets and with a shattered back windshield, was found crashed into a nearby fire hydrant after the shooting.
The investigation led to the identification and arrest of several suspects. One man, Curtis Taylor, was later convicted by a jury on charges including voluntary manslaughter, conspiracy, aggravated battery, shooting at a motor vehicle, and tampering with evidence. Another individual, Tyrell Burr, entered a guilty plea to involuntary manslaughter and other related charges for his involvement in the incident. A third suspect, Anthony McCrady, faces the most serious charge of first-degree murder and is currently awaiting trial.
