On February 1, 1986, Officer Kenneth Shawn McWethy of the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) lost his life in the line of duty. At the time of his death, Officer McWethy was just 23 years old and was nearing the completion of his last year in sociology at the University of New Mexico (UNM) in Albuquerque.
