In the winter of 2014, the life of 22-year-old Mabilia Maranhao was tragically cut short in what authorities would come to describe as an apparent murder-suicide. On January 14th, she and a 22-year-old man, Sharif Goode, were discovered deceased inside a residence on Brock Avenue in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
Those close to the situation indicated that Maranhao and Goode had been a couple. The grim discovery prompted an immediate investigation by local law enforcement.
While the official cause of their deaths was pending autopsy results from the State Medical Examiner, authorities on the scene suggested the evidence pointed towards a murder-suicide.
Investigators processed the evidence, and the circumstances appeared to stem from a domestic dispute that ended in a fatal outcome. There were no indications of any other individuals being involved in the incident. The investigation did not lead to any arrests or the identification of external suspects, as it was concluded to be a tragic, isolated event involving only Maranhao and Goode.
