Ferreira's murder quickly pointed towards a chilling motive: retaliation. It was discovered that Ferreira had previously provided crucial testimony against a member of a local street gang. Three individuals were charged in connection with Christine Ferreira's murder: Denzel Chisholm, his sister Shannelle Chisholm, and Tyrone Gomes. Authorities identified Denzel Chisholm as a leader of the Nauti street gang. The arrests were part of a broader federal investigation into the gang's extensive drug and gun-related activities on Cape Cod. The charges brought a sense of relief to the community and represented a significant blow to the local criminal enterprise. In October 2017, Denzel Chisholm pleaded guilty to murder and kidnapping charges and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
