On the night of May 1, 2018, a young Hispanic man named Victor Pena, 23, was found shot in a parking lot at 550 Broadway in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Police responded to a call of shots fired shortly before midnight and discovered Pena in a vehicle that had crashed into two parked cars. He was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Emergency responders performed CPR at the scene and continued their efforts as he was transported to Lawrence General Hospital.
Tragically, Victor Pena was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. Investigators from the Lawrence Police and Massachusetts State Police were assigned to the case.
Authorities stated that they did not believe the shooting was a random act of violence, suggesting that Pena likely knew his assailant. A canine unit was brought in to search for the suspect, who was seen fleeing the scene on foot in the direction of a nearby park and cemetery. Despite the immediate search and ongoing investigation, no arrests have been announced in connection with the murder of Victor Pena.
