Charles White, a 27-year-old male resident of Springfield, Massachusetts, was killed on Sunday, June 9, 2019. In the early morning hours, at about 12:40 a.m., Chicopee police responded to reports of gunfire. Officers arrived to find White outside with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
From the beginning of the investigation, authorities stated their belief that the shooting was not a random act of violence and that White likely knew his
attacker. The incident was noted as the first homicide to occur in the city of Chicopee since September 2017.
The subsequent investigation led authorities to identify two suspects in the killing. Namel Clark and Daniel Caldwell were arrested and charged with murder in connection with Charles White's death.
The case against both men proceeded to trial. In September 2024, the trial concluded with a verdict, and the case is now considered solved.
