In the early hours of August 6, 2019, tragedy struck in a Dorchester neighborhood. A young Black/African American man, 18-year-old Aquil Muhammad, was found suffering from a gunshot wound at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Wildwood Street. The violence of that night left a community reeling and a young life hanging in the balance.
Emergency services swiftly transported Muhammad to a local hospital, where he fought for his life for two days.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, he succumbed to his injuries on August 8, 2019. His death was officially ruled a homicide, prompting an investigation by the Boston Police Department. In the wake of the shooting, authorities appealed to the public for assistance, urging anyone with information to come forward and help bring those responsible to justice.
To date, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests made in connection with the murder of Aquil Muhammad, and no suspects have been officially named. The case remains an open investigation. Tragically, the location of his death, 46 Wildwood Street, would become the scene of another fatal shooting just under a year later, where two other teenagers lost their lives.
