In the early morning hours of August 24, 2019, a tragic event unfolded in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston that cut short the life of Jared Shawn Brown, a 24-year-old Black/African American male from Mattapan. Responding to a call shortly before 4 a.m., police discovered Brown near Westview Street, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
