In the early evening of September 17, 2020, gunfire shattered the dinnertime peace on Decatur Street in Boston's Charlestown neighborhood. When police responded to reports of a car crash and shots fired, they discovered two men inside a vehicle, both suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the men, 24-year-old Wildeny Tejeda-Mejia of Lynn, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other, 28-year-old David Martinez of Roxbury, was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
