Laurie Melchionda, a 59-year-old female, was fatally shot in the entryway of her Howie Road home. Standing near the front of the home was 61-year-old Robert Bonang of Marshfield, who was promptly taken into custody by the responding officers. The investigation quickly revealed that Bonang was not a stranger to the victim. He was a former neighbor who had lived across the street from the Melchionda family for many years, though he had moved away about six years prior to the incident. There had been a history of neighborhood complaints involving Bonang in the past.
