Tanjim Siam, a 24-year-old man who had immigrated to the United States from Bangladesh seeking a better life, was working his shift as a clerk at the M&R Convenience Store in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood on the evening of July 14, 2020. Just after 9:00 p.m., a man entered the Shawmut Avenue store, initially acting as though he was a customer. This individual then brandished a firearm and demanded money and cigarettes.
