In the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, the life of a 33-year-old Black man, Roosevelt Thornton Jr., was tragically cut short on the afternoon of August 1, 2022. Around 12:06 PM, police responded to a report of a person shot in the area of 215 Norwell Street. Upon arrival, they found Thornton suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency services transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced deceased.
The Boston Police Department's Homicide Unit immediately launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
As of early August 2022, authorities had not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the case. The investigation was described as active and ongoing.
