On April 22, 2011, Eugene Police Officer Chris Kilcullen, a 43-year-old veteran of the force, was tragically shot and killed during a traffic stop in Springfield, Oregon. The incident began when Officer Kilcullen initiated a traffic stop on a reckless driver who had run a red light.
