In the early morning hours of October 27, 2015, the life of a 43-year-old White woman, Athena L. Slavin, was tragically cut short in her Eugene, Oregon home. Police responded to a report of a burglary in progress at her residence on Compton Street shortly after 3 a.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Ms. Slavin deceased inside the house under circumstances that were immediately deemed suspicious.
As the investigation unfolded, it became clear that this was not a random act of violence.
