Douglas Spaur, 53, male, was shot and killed in Central Point, Oregon, on November 2, 2015, after a confrontation outside the Stop N Go convenience store on Table Rock Road. He was struck at close range and died in his truck in the market’s parking lot.
Officers quickly identified a suspect, 29-year-old Robert Kahlil Davies-Calhoun of Central Point, who was found on foot on nearby Gibbon Road and taken into custody that day on outstanding warrants.
Investigators said Spaur and Davies-Calhoun did not know each other; their encounter began as a verbal dispute that escalated violently in the lot.
Spaur’s death was publicly noted in an obituary and memorial postings confirming his age and the date and place of his passing. Community records listing gun-violence victims in Oregon also mark the case on November 2, 2015, in Central Point.
The criminal case moved forward over the following years. In January 2020, a Jackson County jury found Davies-Calhoun “guilty except for mental disease or defect” in Spaur’s killing, a verdict reached after proceedings that began more than four years after the shooting.
