In the late afternoon of November 21, 2019, in the 6600 block of Ponderosa Street in Central Point, Oregon, a fatal encounter unfolded. Nicholas Patrick Kubasiak, a 38-year-old Caucasian male, was shot and killed. The incident prompted an investigation by the Jackson County Major Assault and Death Investigation Unit.
Detectives from multiple agencies, including the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Oregon State Police, and Medford and Ashland Police Departments, worked the case.
Their investigation led them to a suspect, David Vaughn Bullard, who was born on August 11, 1970. Bullard had been living at the residence where the shooting occurred. On November 27, 2019, at 5:17 PM, MADIU detectives arrested Bullard and lodged him at the Jackson County Jail. He was charged with Murder, and no bail was set. The case was then forwarded to the Jackson County District Attorney's Office for prosecution. Bullard was scheduled to be arraigned on November 29, 2019.
