Jasmine Moon, a 28-year-old Caucasian female, was killed on April 11, 2020, in a violent incident that also claimed the life of 55-year-old Michael Ray Lambert. The tragedy unfolded at Lambert's residence in an unincorporated area north of Bandon, Oregon. Early that morning, around 6:36 AM, a distressing 911 call was made by Lambert, who had managed to escape to a neighbor's house despite being shot and stabbed.
He reported the attack at his home on Weis Estates Lane.
First responders arrived to find a brutal scene. Lambert was rushed to Bay Area Hospital for emergency surgery but ultimately succumbed to his injuries, which included a non-fatal gunshot wound to the neck and several fatal stab wounds to the back of his neck that pierced his lung. Inside Lambert's home, authorities discovered the body of Jasmine Moon. An autopsy would later confirm that she had died from multiple gunshot wounds as a result of homicidal violence.
Police at the scene located 33-year-old Ashley Margaret Webber inside the residence. Webber, who had been staying at the home, was taken into custody. Another adult male was also found at the house, but he was interviewed and fully cooperated with the investigation; authorities stated there was no evidence to suggest his involvement in the deaths of Moon and Lambert. Shortly after the incident, the Coos County Grand Jury indicted Webber on two counts of Murder in the First Degree.
Ultimately, Ashley Margaret Webber pleaded guilty to two counts of Murder in the Second Degree for the deaths of Jasmine Moon and Michael Lambert. A judge sentenced her to two consecutive life sentences. She will be eligible for parole after serving 35 years. While the legal process brought a conviction, the motive behind why Webber killed her two housemates remains a mystery.
