On a Tuesday afternoon in Portland, Oregon, the life of 31-year-old Shaude Leigh Hutchison was tragically cut short. On March 4, 2025, police responded to reports of a shooting and discovered Hutchison deceased inside an RV located at Northeast Gertz Road and North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. An autopsy later confirmed that she had died from a gunshot wound, and her death was ruled a homicide.
The sole suspect in her death, her 42-year-old partner Aaron Rene Garza, was arrested at
the scene. He was subsequently booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on a charge of second-degree murder with a firearm, in a case that authorities have described as domestic violence. According to court documents, Garza was found near a handgun and appeared to be under the influence of narcotics. He reportedly made statements to the police about hearing voices that commanded him to kill Hutchison.
Family and friends remember Hutchison as a vibrant, happy, and caring individual with a bright smile. Her sister described her as a constant companion in life, from competing on the high school debate team to playing various sports together. In her youth, Hutchison was actively involved in her community through various youth groups and the NAACP Youth Council. She was a student at an EMT training center and was known for her kindness and compassion toward others. Her untimely death has left her family and a large circle of friends heartbroken, forever cherishing the memory of the joy she brought into their lives.
